BACK Signing of Commercial Contract of the Tharjiath Heavy Oil Power Station and Transmission Lines Project in South Sudan

Recently, Sinosteel MECC and Sudar Petroleum Company of South Sudan signed commercial contract on the Project of Tharjiath Heavy Oil Power Station and Transmission Lines, with contract value around 0.4billion USD, marking another significant breakthrough in African market following the EPC contract of 2.3mtpa Steel Complex Project in Algeria signed in this June.


The project, consists of one 100MW heavy oil power station, accessory transmission lines and five substations, is contracted on EPC basis covering engineering design, equipment supply, civil work, equipment installation and commissioning. After its completion, the project can satisfy the electricity demand of nearby oil fields, Bentiu region and other surrounding town, while remarkably improving the electricity shortage situation and making active contributions to the energy and economy development of South Sudan. It also promotes the smooth implementation of Sinosteel MECC’s strategy of internationalization and diversification.
