Recently, Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. (Sinosteel MECC) signed the contract with Kunming Iron & Steel Group (Kungang) of Wuhan Iron & Steel Corporation to build a new 2.6Mtpa Travelling Grate Pelletizing Plant on EPC basis.

The Plant, consisting of raw material system, dosing and mixing system, pelletizing system, induration system, product system, process fan and belt conveyor, is an important part of Kungang's Modernization Project aiming to build an integrated steel mill featuring optimized logistics, smart equipment, low energy consumption and emission and elevated information level with annual output of 4 million tons high-quality steel.

The travelling grate pelletizing technology and equipment independently developed by Sinosteel MECC are well proven with excellent performance in several projects in operation -- 2.5Mtpa Pelletizing Plant in Middle East, 4Mtpa Pelletizing Plant for Tosyali in Algeria and 2Mtpa Pelletizing Plant for Sangang Group in Fujian, China. The process will be further optimized for Kungang Project.

Founded in 1939, Kungang is the largest steel producer in Yunnan Province and the sole state-owned stee enterprise in Kunming City. The implementation of the Modernization Project will reinforce Kungang's role as a major hub for connections between southeast Asia and China.
