On October 1, 2020, Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. (Sinosteel MECC) concluded a contract with Tosyali Group in Istanbul, Turkey for the 1800mm HRC rolling project with annual production of 3.5 million tons.

The project on EP basis will include engineering, euqipment supply, commissioning, technical supervision and traning. Sinosteel MECC equips state of the art hot strip rolling technologies to make sure the plant will be low-carbon, energy-green, high productivity and quality, while adaptable to all steel grades and types: AWC and SCC technologies for vertical mill, work roll high strength bending and shifting system as well as VCS work roll for finishing stands. Coil box is integrated for the specific product type. Pinch roll grinding and polishing technology allows the production of 1mm thin strip with conventional hot wide strip mill. Strip width, thickness and flatness auto-control as well as upper and lower surface detecting systems are equipped. Other than that, smart rolling systems including online quality monitoring, energy optimal management and unmanned overhead crane management are installed. 

The project, scheduled to be completed by end of 2022, is the largest hot rolling line contracted by Chinese company abroad, and also the largest metallurgical investment in Turkey in 2020. 

Since 2008, Sinosteel MECC has completed various successful projects for Tosyali Group, including 950mm hot strip rolling project, bar & wire rolling project, and slab continuous casting project in Osmaniye, spiral welded pipe project and 2.3mtpa steel complex in Algeria.
