Two 1800mm hot strip mill projects undertaken by Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Sinosteel MECC") are currently achieving significant milestones overseas.
The 1800mm hot strip mill project in Turkey is the second hot strip production line undertaken by Sinosteel MECC for Tosyali in Turkey, following the 950mm hot strip mill project. This project will not only enrich Tosyali's product line but also play a crucial role in the subsequent supply of raw materials for pipes and cold rolling. As the largest metallurgical investment project in Turkey since 2020, it holds significant importance in driving domestic investments and promoting local employment.
Sinosteel MECC signed contracts for the two 1800mm hot strip mill projects for Tosyali in Turkey and Algeria in October 2020 and December 2021, respectively. Both projects represent the largest-scale hot strip mill projects undertaken by Chinese companies overseas. Sinosteel MECC utilizes advanced Chinese hot strip steel technology on an international level, aiming to create an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, high-yield, and high-quality hot rolling production line adaptable to various product specifications and steel grades.
The roughing mill is equipped with AWC and SSC technology, and all finishing mill stands have work roll bending systems, shifting systems, and VCS work roll profiles. Tailored to customer product specifications and steel grades, the project includes a hot coil box, and the pinch rolls use online grinding roll technology, demonstrating strong capabilities in thin strip rolling and producing products with a thickness of 1.0mm on a conventional wide strip hot strip mill production line. The project also incorporates advanced width, thickness, and flatness automatic control technology and upper and lower surface inspection systems for quality control. It is equipped with intelligent rolling systems such as online quality monitoring, energy optimization management, and unmanned overhead crane management, aiming to achieve a globally advanced level in overall process technology and equipment.
