The Tosyali 1800mm Hot Strip Mill Project is the largest hot strip mill project undertaken by a Chinese company overseas. It is constructed by Sinosteel MECC, aiming to build an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, high-yield, high-quality hot-rolling production line adaptable to various product specifications and steel types. On February 2nd, the project entered a crucial stage, heading straight towards the production target. However, the unexpected earthquake changed everything.

The Sinosteel MECC project team experienced the "most severe disaster in a century" - aftershocks and waiting in the cold night, traveling for 20 hours in heavy snow. On February 17th, the Sinosteel MECC project team took up the responsibility and returned to the front line.

On February 6th, upon learning of the earthquake in Turkey, Chairman of Sinosteel MECC, Lu Pengcheng, immediately convened an emergency meeting, personally deployed emergency measures, provided strong guarantees for employees in Turkey, and resolved their worries. Guided by the philosophy of "safety first, life foremost, caring for employee health," an "emergency working group" connecting Beijing and Turkey was quickly formed.

"The first priority after the earthquake is safe living and production. I hope everyone can do a good job in various protections, reserve necessary food and emergency supplies, keep in touch with customers, maintain close internal communication, all actions must be subject to the command and dispatch of the person in charge, and maintain close contact with family and the company... I hope comrades will implement various safety and emergency measures one by one!"

Upon confirming the safety of employees in Turkey, the emergency working group began a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the site's disaster and damage, the surrounding environment, material reserves, food and water sources, evacuation routes, emergency shelters, on-site disinfection, etc. They assessed the risk of secondary disasters derived from the earthquake and immediately sent earthquake disposal knowledge, continuously tracking everyone's dynamics.

Turkey is an important destination in Sinosteel MECC's international development process where the latter took its first step in international engineering general contracting, and subsequently, with leading technology, professional project management and execution, sincere service, and communication, constructed several influential projects in Turkey, establishing deep friendships with well-known steel enterprises.
