So far, engineers implementing the on-site supervision task for sea trial of Jiaolong manned deep-sea submersible from Sinsoteel MECC have returned to Qingdao by Xiangyanghong 09 support ship, marking the successful completion of on-site supervision for 7000m sea trial.

The product supervision department of Sinosteel MECC was employed by Marine Technology Office of 863 Program of Ministry of Science and Technology and China Ocean Mineral Resources R&D Association. Since the supervision contract signing in January of 2004, the company has dispatched representatives as third party, accomplishing supervision on the establishment and operation of project quality management system of the Jiaolong, management of project progress, quality inspection of key milestones, verification of trials, tests and important documents, supervision of relevant products and the whole process supervision on sea trials of 1000m, 3000m, 5000m and 7000m.

The 7000m sea trial lasted for 44 days, during which Sinosteel MECC took charge in the readiness status inspection of submersible body and above-water support system before diving, record of trial process and results, trial failure record and tracking. The company also took part in the acceptance scheme compilation, acceptance, archiving and review of trial documents at trail site, providing powerful quality management guarantee for the 7000m sea trail of the Jiaolong and winning praise from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Association. Engineer Zhang Fei from SINOSTEEL MECC was named as 2012 Seal Trail Outstanding Communist by the temporary party committee of the Jiaolong. As the company taking part in the trail, the logo of Sinosteel MECC was also engraved in the permanent landmark at the 7000m bottom of the sea, as witness of the historical breakthrough of human being in the underwater diving field.
