Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. (Sinosteel MECC) signed a contract with ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal in Ukraine) on September 8, 2020 for a  5Mtpa Traveling Grate Pelletizing Project on EPC basis at signing ceremony held via video conference.

Per the contract, Sinosteel MECC will build a new pelletizing plant composed of raw material preparation, pelletizing and returning, indurating, screening and auxiliary facility systems with an annual capacity of producing 5 million tons of pellets.

The traveling grate pelletizing technology and equipment applied to the plant is independently developed by Sinosteel MECC and has been proven energy-saving and emission reducing, efficient and cost-effective through delivery of several projects in China and abroad.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih aims to renovate the existing production system, improve local ecological environment and yield both economic and environmental benefits. The project, once completed, will become the first pelletizing plant of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih and also the biggest one in Ukraine.

We firmly believe that, relying on our joint efforts, we will work out to deliver the project with superior quality as scheduled.”

Also present at the ceremony were Dominique Vacher, Vice President of Capital Goods of ArcelorMittal, Ketan Bansal, General Manager of Capital Goods of ArcelorMittal, Mauro Longobardo, Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, and Hua Guanglin, Executive Vice President of Sinosteel MECC.

ArcelorMittal is world-renowned steel giant with annual production capacity of 97 million tons for crude steel. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal in Ukraine, is the largest full production-cycle steel producer in Ukraine and one of the largest in Europe.

Sinosteel MECC is the only supplier of self-developed traveling grate pelletizing technology to overseas market in China. Prior to this project, Sinosteel MECC has been awarded a 2.6Mpta pelletizing project by Kunming Iron and Steel Group of WISCO and a 4Mtpa pelletizing project by Magang Group of Baowu Steel Group in 2020, following the completion of 2Mtpa pelletizing project in Fujian, China, 2Mtpa pelletizing project in Middle East and 4Mtpa pelletizing project for Tosyali in Algeria. Moreover, the 2x4.8Mtpa pelletizing project for HBIS Group and 4Mtpa pelletizing project for Fangchenggang Steel Base are under construction in China. With the above mentioned deals and references, Sinosteel MECC’s traveling grate pelletizing technology and equipment have gained more recognitions and market shares both home and abroad.
