Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. (Sinosteel MECC) signed a contract with ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal in Ukraine) on September 8, 2020 for a 5Mtpa Traveling Grate Pelletizing Project on EPC basis at signing ceremony held via video conference.
Per the contract, Sinosteel MECC will build a new pelletizing plant composed of raw material preparation, pelletizing and returning, indurating, screening and auxiliary facility systems with an annual capacity of producing 5 million tons of pellets.
The traveling grate pelletizing technology and equipment applied to the plant is independently developed by Sinosteel MECC and has been proven energy-saving and emission reducing, efficient and cost-effective through delivery of several projects in China and abroad.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih aims to renovate the existing production system, improve local ecological environment and yield both economic and environmental benefits. The project, once completed, will become the first pelletizing plant of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih and also the biggest one in Ukraine.
“It took 2.5 years from concept to contract signing including all necessary approvals. This is one of the key strategic initiatives of AMKR aiming to reduce its environmental footprint drastically by replacing old sinter plants with the new eco-friendly pellet one. I congratulate both teams for your hard work to achieve the milestone and I have full confidence and faith that under our joint-work the project will be delivered in time with quality and within budget”, said Vinay Tiwari, Chief Technology Officer of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
“ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Pelletizing Project is a new milestone of cooperation between us. I hope the teams from both companies will pool their efforts to work closely and keep good communication which is the key to success.” Vijay Goyal, Vice President of ArcelorMittal, added.
Lu Pengcheng, Vice President of Sinosteel Group and Chairman of Sinosteel MECC, spoke of the willingness to work with ArcelorMittal, saying, “We already had some successful cooperation in the past and now we are boosting our relations with ArcelorMittal. We will give full play to our capacities in technology, resource integration and international project implementation. We firmly believe that, relying on our joint efforts, we will work out to deliver the project with superior quality as scheduled.”
