Indonesia is the birthplace of the "Maritime Silk Road." On July 19, 2023, the first coke oven of the Risun Weishan 4.8 million tons/year coking project, undertaken by Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. (Sinosteel MECC) on EP basis, was successfully put into operation, marking the successful launch of the first batch of coke. This is not only the largest-scale coking project in Indonesia but also the largest overseas general contracting coking project undertaken by a Chinese company.

The project mainly involves the construction of six 66-hole, 7.1-meter energy-saving large-capacity top-charging coke ovens with an annual output of 4.8 million tons of coke. It is accompanied by a complete coal gas purification system, using Sinosteel MECC's independently patented 7.1-meter large-capacity top-charging coke oven technology, which reduces the comprehensive energy consumption per ton of coke by 8% to 10% compared to the average level.

Independent Technology Export Overseas:
The project adopts Sinosteel MECC's independently patented ZG7.1X3-1 large-capacity top-charging coke oven, featuring a single heat mode, dual-linked fire lanes, coke oven gas sub-injection, segmented heating, and energy-saving insulated design. It has advantages such as compact structure, rational layout, uniform heating, high thermal efficiency, long service life, and environmental friendliness.

Energy-saving Transformation and Upgrading:
The furnace body incorporates multiple advanced technologies, including waste gas circulation, multi-stage heating, riser waste heat recovery, flue gas desulfurization, and waste heat recovery. These technologies reduce nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide emissions in coke oven exhaust gases at the source, resulting in an 8% to 10% reduction in comprehensive energy consumption per ton of coke. Additionally, low-pressure saturated steam is produced for production use, improving energy recovery efficiency, reducing production costs, and enhancing energy utilization.

Digital Automation for Efficiency Improvement:
The project employs digital design to enhance efficiency and shorten construction periods. With advanced automation control, the coke oven machinery can operate in various modes, combining manned and automatic functions. The coordination system controls furnace identification, automatic movement, and interlocking of various vehicles, ensuring the safety of coke ovens and equipment.

On July 19, a commissioning ceremony was held at the project site, where Risun Group's Executive President Li Qinghua announced the commissioning of the first coke oven.
