SINOSTEEL MECC just made breakthrough in its exploring the advanced market of developed countries. On June 28th, the technical appendix of 2×65 chamber 6m coke batteries (with annual capacity of 1.2 million tons of coke) submitted by the bidding unity of SINOSTEEL MECC and MCC was confirmed and signed by Sumitomo Metal Industries and Sumitomo Corporation. By then commercial and technical parts of the contract had all been signed, and came into effect since June 21st 2006. According to the contract SINOSTEEL MECC shall be responsible for both the supply of complete set of equipments for the coke oven, and the technical supervision in site, while MCC responsible for the design and partial installation instruction. The total contract price is worth of 50 million US dollars, and the construction period to be lasting for 39 months.
Sumitomo Metal Industries 2×65 chamber 6m coke batteries project is the largest one contracted by Chinese companies in the developed countries to date. At the same time it is also the first time large-scale overseas engineering cooperation project between SINOSTEEL MECC and MCC group based on the complementary strength, mutual benefit, and win-win principles. The success of the project will have critical effect over SINOSTEEL MECC’s further exploring overseas market of developed countries, exporting complete set of metallurgical equipments to above-mentioned areas, promoting the multiple overseas market, strengthening the influence of SINOSTEEL MECC over the international market, and also increasing its level and skill of internationalized operation. In this case, SINOSTEEL MECC is strengthening its coordination with MCC, organizing its backbone technical and commercial staff into the project, to guarantee the smooth construction and successful production of the project in a punctual way.
