On October 9, 2020, the commencement ceremony of 4mtpa traveling grate pelletizing project contracted by Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. (Sinosteel MECC) for Masteel Group was held, making the start of construction work.

The existing 3 shaft furnaces in iron making plant of Masteel were designed to produce 2.7mtpa pellet feed which can’t satisfy the demand for supplying to blast furnaces. In the meantime, facilities of the shaft furnaces suffered from aging, weakened desulfurization effect and non-compliance with ultra-low emission requirement. As an answer to this situation, a new 4mtpa traveling grate pelletizing project is planned to replace the outdated technology and facilities.

Conforming to the “green development, intelligent manufacturing” principle of Baowu Group, the project adopts the most up-to-date pelletizing technologies and advanced construction and management methods to ensure the efficient and low cost pelletizing production. 

The self-develop traveling grate pelletizing technology with independent intellectual property of Sinosteel MECC has been verified by multiple successful applications including 2.5mtpa traveling grate pelletizing project in Middle East, 4mtpa project for Tosyali in Algeria, Sangang Minguang 2mtpa project. Furthermore, 2x4.8mtpa project for HBIS Tangshan and 4mtpa project for Liuzhou I&S Group Fangchenggang Steel Base are to be put into production in no time.
