At the local time of 10:30 a.m. on July 10, the 300m2 sintering machine of ISDEMIR steel plant Turkey constructed by Sinosteel MECC was successfully ignited and pilot run; so far, the largest sintering project constructed by Chinese in overseas has been successfully start up.

The general contract of the 300m2 sintering project of ISDEMIR steel plant was signed in February 2005, the contract duration was 27 months. During the implementation of this project, the schedule has been postponed for several times because of the owner; in 2008, the project was suspended due to the international financial crisis. Sinosteel MECC not only successfully took the full funds of contract back through negotiations, also created the better technical and commercial conditions for the restart and the follow-up implementation of this project. Since the project was restarted in 2010, the staff of Sinosteel MECC have overcome many difficulties and worked closely with the owner to ensure the adjusted schedule and the commissioning of project.

In this pilot run, the bed of material was 600 mm thick, and the charging capacity was 500 tons/hour, both of which were about 80 percent of the normal production; the quality of sinter ore produced by this system was much better than that of the original sintering system of this plant.
